Careys Manor

Careys Manor is a four star hotel comprising an eighteenth century turreted manor building, adjoined by two modern bedroom wings and a spa, it is a high profile hotel which has successfully traded over a long period of time. The hotel now has the largest room stock in the New Forest (79 bedrooms), many of which were refurbished in 2009.

The Manor building houses 13 of the hotels bedrooms, the wing built in the 1960’s has 40 rooms, the Knightwood wing added 22 rooms in 1989 and 3 spa rooms were added when SenSpa was built. The extensive and flexible conference and banqueting facilities (for up to 210 delegates) make Careys Manor a popular choice for meetings and weddings in Hampshire (capacity for receptions of up to 100 guests).

Built on the site of a royal hunting lodge, the manor building itself has a fairy-tale look about it and entices customers with its traditional feel; log fires, relaxing lounges and panelled rooms. There is a focus on locally sourced food in the fine dining Manor Restaurant (2 AA rosettes) and French style cooking in the bistro Le Blaireau, which offers a more relaxed and informal alternative. Both restaurants adhere to our strict food policy of using local, free range and organic ingredients as far as possible.

Over the 33 years since Careys was acquired by Greenclose, the 7 acre site has continued to be developed. When the property was purchased in 1975, it consisted solely of 56 en-suite bedrooms with a 65 seat restaurant. Since then the Jugged Hare (a pub) was added in 1978 and then converted into Blaireaus, the French Bistro in 1990. The Carat Club Health & Fitness Centre was built in 1984 (including ozone treated deck level pool, Jacuzzi, steam room & sauna, gym, 3 treatment rooms and physiotherapy centre). A new wing of 24 bedrooms boosted the bedroom stock in 1989, and the additions of the Manor Suite and Cedar Suite in 1992 and 1998 respectively enabled Careys to enter and compete in the conference market. The main restaurant was extended in 1995 taking it up to 90 covers, finally SenSpa was completed and launched in August 2004 once again diversifying the hotels product offering and reducing reliance on the leisure, conference, function and corporate markets. The hotel was re-classified as a four star hotel in 2006, and planning permission has been obtained for the addition of 18 junior suites.
